The Chevrolet SSR Base for 2006: Improving on 2005

Standard equipment in the SSR for 2005 and 2006 includes the 6.0 liter engine by General Motors, weighing in at 8 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 4-speed Automatic Transmission puts the power of the Vortec engine to the pavement. The has proven to be a popular configuration for the SSR.
The SSR uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The truck uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.
Statistics
The SSR is 191.50 inches long, 78.60 inches wide, and 63.80 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 116.00 inches. It is able to seat 2 comfortably.
A powertrain guarantee is provided (36,000 miles/36 months), and a 36,000 mile, 36 month guarantee also comes with the Chevrolet SSR. This is average compared to the rest of the truck market.
Pricing is a vital consideration when shopping for a truck. The Chevrolet SSR lists at $39,240 when new. The dealer cost on the truck was $36,689. This price was average compared to the industry average price for a 2-door convertible.
Fuel Efficiency
The fuel system for the 2006 SSR is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 25.00 gallons.
The 2006 SSR gets 19 - 20 miles/gallon on the highway and only 13 - 15 in the city. This is subpar for a convertible truck.
What We Think of the Chevrolet SSR
The 2005 model began the promise of the Chevrolet SSR. The 2006 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the SSR Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

No less than 5 of my friends have a SSR. I can’t say more than two of them are happy with it…
