First Impressions of the Chevrolet Corvette for 2001

In 2001 Chevrolet released the Corvette Z06 to the car-buying market. The Corvette came in two configurations: Base and Z06. The Z06 configuration is powered by the 5.7-liter eight-cylinder engine, which makes 26 - 28 highway miles and 18 - 19 city. The Corvette competes in the Coupe market segment, in direct competition with Hyundai.
The Corvette Z06 is equipped with a General Motors 5.7 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Chevrolet engine is mated to a Tremec 6-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.
The fuel system for the 2001 Corvette is a SFI design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 18.50 gallons.
The Corvette uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses leaf and leaf springs front and rear respectively.
The dimensions of the Corvette Z06 are 73.60 inches wide by 179.70 inches long. It sits a comfortable 47.70 inches off the ground. It seats a standard two passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 104.50 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.
The OEM suggested retail price (MSRP) was $40,280 when new. The dealer cost on the car was $35,245. This price was in line with the industry standard price for a 2-door Coupe.
The Corvette Z06 received a miles-per-gallon rating of 18 - 19 in-city driving and 26 - 28 when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was subpar.
The vehicle is available in Black, Dark Bowling Green Metallic, Light Pewter Metallic, Magnetic Red II Metallic, Millenium Yellow, Navy Blue Metallic, Quicksilver Metallic, Speedway White , and Torch Red.
The standard warranty period for the Corvette is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the coupe market.
There are several reasons why the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 sold well in 2001. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a Corvette.

I’m liking Kia over Chevrolet. It think it’s the difference in reliability. My first Corvette worked quite well, but the second one (a Z06 BTW) didn’t fare so well…

I’m tired of Chevrolet in general. Come out with something better!
