Getting 26 - 28 Miles a Gallon: The Chevrolet Corvette for 2001

The Chevrolet Corvette is a 2-door car available at your Chevrolet dealer. The Corvette came in two configurations: Base and Z06. The Base configuration is powered by the 5.7-liter eight-cylinder engine, which makes 26 - 28 highway miles and 18 - 19 city. The Corvette competes in the Hatchback market segment, in direct competition with Acura.
Chevrolet Corvette Engine Specs
Standard equipment in the Corvette for 2000 and 2001 includes the 5.7 liter engine by General Motors, weighing in at 8 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 6-speed Standard Transmission puts the power of the Chevrolet engine to the pavement. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Hatchback arena.
The fuel system for the 2001 Corvette is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 18.50 gallons.
Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Corvette comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses leaf front springs and leaf in the rear.
Vehicle Statistics
The dimensions of the Corvette Base are 73.60 inches wide by 179.70 inches long. It sits 47.70 inches off the ground. It seats a standard two passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 104.50 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.
The Chevrolet Corvette lists at $40,280 when new. The dealer cost on the car was $35,245.
The standard warranty period for the Corvette is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the hatchback market.
Fuel Efficiency
The Corvette Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of 18 - 19 in-city driving and 26 - 28 when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was exceptional.
We Think…
The 2000 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Corvette. The 2001 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Corvette Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

I’m definiately wanting a flex fuel hatchback. Since the Corvette isn’t, is it a good buy?
