Car of the Year for 1994: The Chevrolet Camaro

Chevrolet has been blessed with many award-winning designs, including the Chevrolet Camaro of 1994. There are two trim levels to the Camaro, including Z28 and Base. The Z28 version is one of the more popular options. Like in 1993 the popular 5.7 liter Chevrolet has made this a popular choice for coupe buyers around the world.

Engine Performance

The restyled Camaro Z28 is equipped with a General Motors 5.7-liter 8-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 16 valves. The Chevrolet engine is paired with a General Motors 4-speed transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Camaro has power-assisted brakes, with 2-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Camaro Z28 Statistics

The dimensions of the Camaro Z28 are 74.10 inches wide by 193.20 inches long. It sits a comfortable 52.00 inches off the ground. It seats a standard four passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 101.10 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The Chevrolet Camaro lists at $22,385 when new. The dealer cost on the car was an industry-low price.

Fuel Efficiency

The 1994 Camaro’s normal fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection (MFI) style of design. The fuel tank holds 15.50 gallons.

The Camaro Z28 received a miles-per-gallon rating of seventeen in-city driving and 24 - 26 when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was subpar.

In Summary

The 1994 model year was unsuccessful for the Chevrolet Camaro. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the Z28 version) meant that buyers had several options to choose from..

Good article. At first I felt like I needed to refute your review of the Chevrolet Camaro, but after further reflection I can see your point of view. Perhaps my personal Camaro Z28 is an abberation. What is everyone else’s experiences?

I’m definiately wanting a flex fuel coupe. Since the Camaro isn’t, is it a good buy?
